About Cromwell Solar
Cromwell Solar has designed and installed solar energy systems in Kansas and Missouri since the 1980s and is committed to giving people an affordable and sustainable choice for their electricity source. We offer professional, turn-key solar panel design and installation services throughout Kansas and Missouri and work on large scale projects throughout the U.S. and beyond. Cromwell Solar offers comprehensive solar panel installation services for both residential and commercial buildings. In Kansas, we have installed more solar projects than all other firms combined and our 2018 installation of 10.5 MW of solar on over 1,200 Fort Riley houses ensures that record will be held for some time.
We approach solar panel installation from an engineering perspective, custom designing unique solutions for each customer’s need based on roof space availability, shading, energy needs, and environmental or economic goals while also creating a solar system that is aesthetically pleasing.
Cromwell Environmental
Since our founding in 1982, Cromwell Environmental, Inc. (the parent company of Cromwell Solar) has specialized in the relationship between people, our buildings, and our environment. Our goal is to provide safe and healthy indoor environments for our clients and a better outdoor environment for everyone. We have an Environmental and a Solar division which together make Cromwell a larger, financially stronger, and more well-rounded company.
Our Environmental division specializes in testing and cleaning up environmental or indoor air quality problems, such as oil spills, mold, and asbestos, as well as advising on construction solutions to create healthier buildings, performing energy audits, and conducting energy saving retrofits of buildings.
About our owners
Aron and Sarah Cromwell own and operate Cromwell Solar. Aron is an engineer and one of our area’s first NABCEP (North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners) certified solar installers. Along with his wife Sarah, the Cromwells own 100% of the company. Aron holds a B.S. in Ecology and an M.S. in Environmental Engineering. In addition to extensive environmental and solar experience, Aron spent several years building green homes, an experience that impacts our approach to air quality and energy use. Aron was elected and held the offices of City Commissioner and Mayor of the City of Lawrence 2008–2012.
Besides her commitment to environmental health and clean energy, Sarah has a great deal of interest in the science and practice of business and sales management with experience in independent, non-profit, and corporate sales and management.
Size, growth, and the future of Cromwell Solar
Cromwell Solar currently has over 40 full-time employees designing and installing solar panels across Kansas and Missouri. We have a strong past and a sunny future.
Across the U.S., solar is an industry seeing double-digit growth. At Cromwell we benefit from a strong reputation as the largest and most experienced solar installation firm in Kansas. We have our own full-time electricians and engineers, and we hold professional contractor licenses which allow us to build and work on everything from residential solar installations to high-rises.
Cromwell Solar takes training and certification of our employees seriously — we spend several hours every week training every employee with an eye towards professional development and certifications. Additional installers are now preparing for the solar certification testing, and others will be testing for their electrician licenses. We have a full complement of professional administrative personnel to handle all aspects of permitting and utility interconnection, and have the expertise to accurately model solar performance and payback (even on complicated commercial projects).
Solar-powered headquarters
Cromwell continues to install solar across a wide geographic radius (700 miles) from our Lawrence, Kansas offices. In 2014, we purchased and renovated a three-level historic building in downtown Lawrence, giving us more office space and, in the walkout basement with bay doors, a significant warehouse space.
Cromwell Solar’s operations are thriving in this facility and the additional and more functional office square footage allow for growth in personnel. Our warehouse allows us to buy solar installation materials in bulk and store them, as well as providing safe indoor parking for our company vans. The new location also provides us retail-level exposure in the bustling downtown of Lawrence, KS — also a bonus for obtaining and retaining employees due to the proximity to shopping, restaurants, and entertainment. All of this points to a strong future for Cromwell Solar.
